Drilling & Well Intervention

In 2019, OOS Energy secured the management contract for the Frida I drilling semi-submersible, for drilling operations in the Mexican waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The Frida I, a DP2 drilling unit is capable of drilling at depths of up to 2,400m in DP mode and up to 500m when moored.

OOS Energy conducted the mobilization of the Frida I from Brazil to the Gulf of Mexico, overseeing the installation of the mooring system and moved the unit to its designated drilling location to commence drilling operations. The unit completed successfully several wells, with the unit being demobilized in 2022.

In 2023, OOS Energy was appointed as the manager for the INDEPENDENCIA-2 (formerly known as La Muralla IV) drilling semi-submersible, at the time stacked in the Bahamas. The reactivation process commenced in the Bahamas by preparing the vessel for its relocation to Curacao.

Upon arrival in Curacao, the reactivation efforts intensified, conducting a comprehensive refurbishment that included the completion of the 5-yearly Special Periodical Survey (SPS), alongside a full overhaul and recertification of the drilling equipment. The re-activation is anticipated to be concluded in March 2024.

Plug & Abandonment / Decommissioning

The Multi-Activity Unit (MAU) equipped with a Plug & Abandonment (P&A) package enables OOS Energy to perform activities simultaneously on multiple oil and gas wells. Its smart, high-reach cantilever fitted with a second adjustable load path allows a rig-less P&A approach. Combined with the high-efficiency 450MT load path on the main well center, the MAU provides a system capable of dealing with every P&A challenge. The MAU can provide comfortable accommodation for up to 200 persons during the whole platform preparation phase while P&A work is in progress. After simultaneous completion of P&A activities and platform removal preparations, the MAU P&A tower stores forward to provide a clear deck area of 3400 m2 to accommodate topsides and jackets with weights up to 2400MT each. After loading, the MAU can sail to a shipyard for offloading of structures without the need for additional support vessels.
